Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM)
The Academy is the national centre for the ABRSM examinations. Mr Moses Kalommo is the Zambia representative.
ABRSM exams are internationally recognised a a benchmark of achievement. Instrumental exams require the candidate to prepare three or more pieces of music and to perform them in front of an examiner. There are also aural and sight-reading tests which candidates sometimes fail to prepare for properly. We can help with these parts of the exams, and during the school holidays we hold workshops specifically to prepare listening and sight-reading skills, and to deepen the understanding and appreciation of music and improve general musicianship.
Both rounds of theory exams were held without hitch in 2020, but practical exams were not held due to COVID19. The schedule for 2021 will be posted here as soon as examination dates are confirmed by ABRSM. We are assured that practical exams will definitely go ahead in 2021.
